The weight-for-age Strickland Stakes over 1200m at Belmont is the only Group race across Australia on Saturday. At Rosehill the Listed Winter Cup over 2400m is the feature race while at Flemington there are further heats of the Creswick, Banjo Paterson, Leilani and Winter Championship Series as well as the Takeover Target Tribute Handicap named after one of Australia's best sprinters in the modern era.

The Gold Coast is hosting its first-ever Group 1 with the running of the Tattersall's Tiara for fillies and mares over 1400 metres and it is one of the best renditions of this great race; Stradbroke winner Srikandi takes her place in the field along with Catkins which is endeavouring to capture an elusive Group 1. The other races on the Gold Coast card are also outstanding with the Group 3 Tattersall's Cup over 2200 metres and Group 3 Tattersall's 150th Anniversary Stakes being the highlights. At Moonee Valley there are further heats of the Creswick, All Victorian Sprint and Banjo Paterson Series.

The Queensland Winter Carnival moves to Ipswich on Saturday with the Listed Ipswich Cup over 2150 metres and Eye Liner Stakes over 1350 metres being the feature attractions; the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic for fillies and mares over 1350 metres is the other highlight at Ipswich. At Flemington there are further heats of the Rivette, Banjo Paterson, Creswick and Winter Championship Series.

This Saturday is the centrepiece of the Brisbane Winter Carnival with the running of the $2,000,000 Stradbroke Handicap for the first and probably last time at Doomben; Victorian filly Lumosty has been devastating in two wins at Flemington but she is not assured of a start being first emergency. The Queensland Derby for three year olds and JJ Atkins for two year olds are the other Group 1's. The Group 2 Brisbane Cup, Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes for fillies and mares and Group 2 Queensland Guineas for three year olds are other highlights on this excellent card which also features another three Listed races including The Wayne Wilson Mile named in honour of the late, great Brisbane racecaller.

The Group 1 Queensland Oaks for three year old fillies over 2200 metres at Doomben takes centre-stage on Saturday; ATC Oaks runner-up Winx is clear-cut favourite for the Queensland Oaks with Bohemian Lily, Sebrina and Ballet Suite next in line. Other Group races at Doomben are the Eagle Farm Cup over 2200 metres and QTC Cup over 1200 metres while all other races on this very good card are at Listed level.

The Group 1 Doomben 10,000 is the feature race in Australia on Saturday and the field includes Our Boy Malachi, Temple Of Boom, Knoydart, Generalife, Srikandi and three year olds Scissor Kick and Bring Me The Maid; the other Group races on this outstanding card at Doomben are the Sires' Produce Stakes for two year olds, Grand Prix Stakes for three year olds, Glenlogan Park Stakes for fillies and mares, Premier's Cup, Lord Mayor's Cup, Fred Best Classic for three year olds and The Roses for three year old fillies. Flemington hosts the Listed Straight Six and Andrew Ramsden Stakes and Heat 1 of the Winter Championship Series while the Listed WJ McKell Cup is the highlight of racing at Randwick.

Group 1 action continues at Morphettville with the running of the Goodwood Handicap over 1200m; last year's Emirates Stakes quinella Hucklebuck and Lucky Hussler are among the favourites for the Goodwood but there are many more chances. There are another four Group 3 and two Listed races on a great card at Morphettville. The Sunshine Coast is holding its stand-alone meeting for the first time in May with the features being the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas for three year olds and Listed Caloundra Cup and Glasshouse Handicap. Scone's two-day carnival kicks-off on Friday with the Scone Cup being the highlight while on Saturday the $400,000 Inglis Guineas for three year olds and Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic for fillies and mares are the feature attractions.

There is Group 1 action in Brisbane and Adelaide on Saturday; the BTC Cup and Doomben Cup are the features at Doomben while the South Australian Derby takes centre-stage at Morphettville. Perth filly Delicacy is attempting to make it six in a row in the Derby after her stunning success in last Saturday's Australasian Oaks. Other highlights at Doomben are the G2 Champagne Classic for two year olds, G3 Rough Habit Plate for three year olds and G3 BRC Sprint while the G2 Euclase Stakes for three year olds is another highlight at Morphettville. Rosehill is hosting a bumper 10-race card with the features being the G3 Darley Crown for fillies and mares and G3 Hawkesbury Guineas for three year olds both of which have been transferred from last Saturday's abandoned meeting at Hawkesbury.

Other Group races on the Morphettville card are the Queen Of The South Stakes for fillies and mares and D.C. McKay Stakes. Hawkesbury is hosting its stand-alone Saturday meeting with the Group 3 treble of the Hawkesbury Gold Cup, Darley Crown for fillies and mares and Hawkesbury Guineas for three year olds being the highlights. Toowoomba is hosting its first-ever stand-alone Saturday meeting with the time-honoured double of the Weetwood Handicap and Toowoomba Cup being the feature attractions.
