Bletchingly Stakes Day

The G3 Bletchingly Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield is the premier race across Australia on Saturday in which Darren Weir's Mahuta returns from a spell. Another highlight at Caulfield is the $150,000 VOBIS Gold Stayers over 2400m. Other black-type races are the Listed Lightning Stakes for 2&3-Y-O over 1050m at Morphettville and Listed Winter Challenge over 1500m at Rosehill.

The Darwin Cup Carnival at Fannie Bay racecourse is at its climax with the feature on Saturday being the $135,000 Palmerston Sprint over 1200m while the $200,000 Darwin Cup over 2000m on Monday is the highlight of the carnival. Wizard will be in attendance on both days of the carnival so don't miss this opportunity to meet Wizard if you are in the Top End.

July Sprint Day

The July Sprint over 1100m is the feature attraction on a rare Saturday meeting at Canterbury Park. The Listed Tattersall's Mile Handicap over 1600m at Doomben and the Listed Belmont Classic over 2200m in Perth are the black-type races in Australia on Saturday. There is another good meeting at Flemington with the Rising Stars Final for BM-84 gallopers over 1800m being one of the highlights.

Sir John Monash Stakes Day

The Spring Carnival proper is still a couple of months away but Group racing returns with the running of the WFA Sir John Monash Stakes over 1100m at Caulfield. At Rosehill the Listed Winter Stakes over 1400m is the highlight while at Eagle Farm the Listed Queensland Cup over 3200m is the feature attraction.

Winter Championship Day

With the conclusion to the Queensland Winter Carnival Flemington is the centre of attention on Saturday with every race on the program being a series final. The Listed Winter Championship Series Final over 1600m is the feature attraction and the All Victorian Sprint Series Final over 1200m and Banjo Paterson Series Final over 2600m are two of the other highlights. Three of the other finals are named after former champion gallopers Rivette, Taj Rossi and Leilani.

Caloundra Cup Day

The final leg of the Queensland Winter Carnival is at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday; the Sunshine Coast Guineas for 3-Y-O over 1600m is at Group 3 level while the Listed Caloundra Cup over 2400m and Listed Glasshouse Handicap over 1400m have attracted strong fields. Maurus is an odds-on favourite to complete the Ipswich Cup/Caloundra Cup double. The Listed Winter Cup over 2400m and Listed Civic Stakes over 1350m are the highlights of racing at Rosehill.
